Campbell or Gradkowski

When Cable chose to go with Gradkowski over Campbell to start the second half on Sunday against the Raiders, it started an early quarterback controversy. Gradkowski did considerably better in one half than Campbell has looked in six quarters. Gradkowski led the Raiders on three scoring drives totaling 13 points while Campbell had only led the offense to 16 points in a game and a half. I was in favor, at the end of last year, of letting Gradkowski have the opportunity to start this year. I was a little confused why they made the decision to trade for Campbell during Draft Weekend. The powers-that-be felt that Campbell was a fit in their offense with his arm strength and work ethic. One thing that Campbell lacks though is his ability to command the huddle. He also has trouble making quick reads and getting the ball out quickly to help the line. These are things that Gradkowski does very well, which makes the offense appear more in-sync. While these are good traits to have, many believe Gradkowski doesn't possess the arm strength it takes to play well consistently at the NFL level. Therefore, Gradkowski is probably better suited to win games now and be more of a short-term answer while Campbell is more of the long-term answer. The question is, who do you go with? Do you want to win games now and risk advancement by Campbell? Or do you go with Campbell and risk losing out on wins this year? What do you think? Who should start at QB next week versus the Cardinals?

  1. i say go with campbell only for the some of the same reasons as kolb in philadelphia. let him get rhythm with his receivers and offense. if he is the long term solution then the lets get it started now. weve waited this long right?

  2. If Cable's job is on the line this year, would it be more beneficial to try and win as many games as he can? I think you have to give Campbell a shot at trying to get comfortable in this offense, but I'm not sure Cable has the luxury of standing around waiting for Campbell to pick it up. It should be interesting to see what they decide to do.
